DW 5000 Pedal vs Tama Iron Cobra

I own an Iron Cobra, Pearl 101, Axis X, and a cheap Yamaha pedal belonging to a Yammy Rydeen kit. The Yammy is the best of the four by a long margin, until I tried a Janus Ergo. OK, the bearings aren't up to the Yammy standard, but they do supply a spare pair on the single pedal, and once I had worked out how to fit the strap (no instructions) I can do stuff on this machine that I can't do on the others. I changed the beater for a felt ball type, and I'm happy! I don't have the money for a DW or Axis longboard, nor can I try them out near where I live, so in the meantime, the Janus will do. Worth a look. Oh, and despite rumours, you do not have to move further out from the bass drum to play this monster, in fact, for some styles, I had to move IN!

Thanks for the support guys...unfortunately I wasn't covered for anything. I just finished grad school and I was waiting to move into a new place-just timed it badly I guess.

Regardless, I'm really happy with the DW pedal although it seems like pretty much any high quality pedal is completely overbuilt these days. The bottom line is to find a place where you can try a few different pedals back to back and fiddle with the adjustments. I'm really finicky about gear setup to the point where, if I'm not comfortable with the setup, I can barely execute anything. Just trying it in a store, the DW seemed to fit my style and became an extension of me in a short amount of time. Good luck with your selection.

Remember, I changed my springs
to lower gauge but as long as
the heavies and they just are
liquid smooth and responsive.
